Brittney Griner Sentenced to 9 YEARS in Russian Prison
Brittney Griner being sentenced is Absolutely a manipulation attempt by the Russian government.
However…
This is entirely her fault. She broke the law and is going to pay the price. Marijuana laws are all over the globe, This is a very common and very specific law that is well known to be enforced in most countries.
She claims that is was a “honest mistake” that was the result of hasty packing. “I had no intent to break Russian law,” she said.
I don’t believe that for a second. She probably thought she could get away with it. Brittney Griner probably takes her weed pen with her during her WNBA season even though it is illegal in most of the United States. This is possible due to the fact that the TSA apparently misses 95% of prohibited items.
The Facts about Brittney Griner’s Arrest
I believe Marijuana and other drugs should be decriminalized, however that does not change the facts.
The facts consist of two things
- Marijuana is ILLEGAL in Russia
- Brittney Griner brought Marijuana into Russia
Outside of the facts nothing really matters.
Unfortunately she is being used in both the Russian agenda as well as the Political agenda of American politicians. It is very unfortunate that she has to be in the middle of this unprecedented situation. Hopefully in the future she will make better choices on her travel plans as well as what kinds of “substances” she brings with her in her travels.
The Unfortunate Truth
Unfortunately she will more than likely stay a prisoner in Russia. I do not envision any sort of prisoner swap working let alone Russia and The United States cooperating.
